Recently, the Belgian Ambassador to the Holy See, Jean Cornet d’Elzius, recognized Executive Director Karlijn Demasure’s work in the field of safeguarding by conferring upon her, in the name of the King of the Belgians, the rank of Officer of the Order of the Crown. In his conferral speech, he highlighted the development of her involvement in safeguarding, to which she has dedicated many years of her life.
After the conferral, Prof. Demasure underscored the joint efforts of the team members and collaborators of the CCP, observing that what has thus far been accomplished “can hardly be the work of one or two persons.”
Recognizing that there is still much to do in the field of safeguarding, Prof. Demasure concluded, “Although we are working hard, we will not be able to protect every child from abuse, but we hope we can make a difference. Working with many people all over the world will help to make the Church and society at large a safer place for children – that is what we are working and praying for.”
