Recently, the president of all the Jesuits in Africa called together the provincials from all the provinces of the Society of Jesus in Africa and Madagascar and met together with “the CPOs” or child protection officers in order to push the cause of safeguarding. Fr. Hans Zollner gave a number of conferences, speaking about detecting abuse, responding to victims and dealing with perpetrators, also covering how to follow procedures. The presentations were aimed at developing a a culture of safeguarding which takes into account the African context. Fr. Zollner also visited some of the places where abandoned children are taken care of by religious sisters. In this video he shares about his impressions and experience in the church of Nairobi.
