Yesterday we began our series introducing the organizations and speakers taking part in the upcoming (Oct 3-6) congress “Child Dignity in the Digital World“. Today we highlight Telefono Azzurro, one of the four partnering organizations of the congress, along with WeProtect, the CCP, and the Pontifical Gregorian University.
The CCP is happy to work with Telefono Azzurro (or “blue telephone”), one of the best known children’s rights organizations in Italy with a robust international following. Telefono Azzurro was founded in Bologna in 1987 by Dr. Ernesto Caffo as a children’s rights defense group. Since its founding, it has promoted outreach projects to help young people, including a toll-free helpline and local centers that coordinate volunteers, training sessions, and direct assistance to troubled youth.
A tour of Telefono Azzurro’s website introduces us to its different social media campaigns, e.g. against cyber bullying, and its efforts to help minors of all nationalities, such as minors who have entered Italy unaccompanied and may have suffered abuse before or during their journey. In the last few years, they have actively organized events to raise awareness on “Safer Internet Day“. This past year the CCP participated with a video greeting.
In preparation for the congress, we invite you to click through the Telefono Azzurro website or see one of the many videos they’ve posted on their Youtube channel. With their 30 years of experience, they have a lot to share!
